Lord we begin this year with our heads low and our hearts contrite.
We have neglected your word and commandments.
Forgive us Lord for embracing “Change” without REPENTANCE.
Forgive us for putting country first instead of Christ.
Forgive us for worshiping our Presidential choice, for promoting pragmatism and endorsing evil. Forgive us for applauding an Esther, when she was a sign of God’s judgment.
Remind us that judgment begins at the house of God.
Forgive us for putting our tax exempt status before Christ.
Forgive us for teaching that God is a God of love, but not a God of justice and wrath, for creating a God in our own image and worshiping him.
For preaching peace, peace when there is no peace.
Forgive us for loving sinners to death, when God says he HATES the workers of iniquity, for using taxation, coercion to fight poverty when the Church should be serving them.
Forgive us for making innocent life “Above our pay grade”, for believing that life begins at conception yet allowing embryo experimentation.
Forgive us Lord for voting single issue on the economy.
Remind us there can be no financial security until there is security in the womb.
For rewarding covetousness and greed and squandering our children’s inheritance.
Forgive us for decrying socialism, bailouts, while sending our children to socialist schools.
Forgive us for railing against gay marriage, which we should! While indulging in pornography and embracing divorce.
Forgive us for battling AIDS, which we should, but neglecting the sin often at its root.
Forgive us for making global warming an idol.
Lord may you use the coming financial storm to judge our idolatry and make us more reliant on you not our 401k.
Use the coming tribulation to shake off the rotten fruit of the corporate seeker sensitive mega churches, and leave fruit that lasts.
Turn the fathers’ heart to their children and bring true revival to America, change is coming!
God Bless America, in Jesus name Amen!

Friends of the World?

So I bet that I strike a nerve with some people on this post. But I think that making some people think is not such a bad thing.

With the coming election you here a lot of debate on issues such as abortion, gay marriage, the economy, gas prices, supreme court justices and the such. I don't want this to be a political post but it may make you think about your vote.

In the book of James there is a verse that makes the following statement.

James 4:4
You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

So I want to take two of the issues that our country faces, and that the Bible is clear about and ask you where you stand.

Abortion - are you 100% against it in all circumstances? The sixth commandment is thou shalt not murder. Abortion is murder it is not a blob of tissue, I don't get a bigger blob in nine months, I get a child. So it is a small human getting bigger and bigger just inside it's mother.

Homosexuality / Gay Marriage - are you 100% against it? Genesis 2:4 man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his WIFE. 1 Corinthians 6:9 homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I would humbly say that if you are ok with these things, than you are condoning such behavior. I would also suggest that you take a serious look at your walk with God. James is clear in stating that if you are friends with the world you are an enemy of God. I would also humbly say that you are not a Christian.

Broad is the road that leads to destruction and narrow is the path that leads to life. Are you on the broad road or the narrow path. Are you friends of the world or God.

Challenged Teachers? OH NO!

I find this very funny that teachers are feeling threatened by students asking questions. Is that not what students are supposed to do? Ooops I forgot, in our postmodern society , they are supposed to sit quietly and get this evolution non-sense shoved down their throat. Well if the teacher does not know how to answer a question that a student has maybe they should try to figure it out.

He has just finished serving his country in the Navy and has embarked on the work of serving the Lord full time, by witnessing to people on the streets of a near by country. Would you like to know what country? ................. OUR OWN COUNTRY THE USA! So we all could be missionaries in our own country. If fact I would argue that we are supposed to be missionaries in our own country.

The Million Dollar Flight

Well I have not really gone out on the street or passed out tracts since the last time that I wrote on the blog. Well actually, every drive through that I have gone through in this span has gotten a million dollars. I would guess 3-4 drive through restaurants.

So this morning I headed out on a week long business trip and prayed for the opportunity to encounter someone that I might be able to strike up a conversation with and transition to the gospel during my travels. Well God did not take to long in full filling that request. My first flight from Allentown to Detroit, had me sitting next to Lisa. Lisa was very talkative which made it easier and she was very nervous about the flight. She said that she used to like flying however that had changed. I asked her why that had changed. She said that now having kids and being a single mom made her think more about her own mortality. Wow, could I get an easier way to transition to the law and the gospel. Well, I let it go by and didn't jump on it. The longer it was that it went by the more and more conviction I felt that I let it slip by. As we discussed other things, I was eventually able to bring it up again and asked her why she thought more about her own mortality and the transition from the natural to the spiritual had begun.

I found out that she did think that there was something after this life and she thought that there was a heaven and a God, however she was not so keen on the concept of Hell. She also thought that God forgave everyone. I tried to explain that is not the case and she was more than willing to listen to everything that I had to say. She thought that it would not be fair for God to send people to Hell. I said that maybe it was not fair however that it was JUST. She grew up Catholic, however I did not go down the road of the differences of Christianity and Catholicism. I think that would have totally de-reaild the conversation and got it headed down the wrong path.

But ultimatly I found that part of her belief that was going to be a hang up for her salvation was that she believed that people were not born sinners. We discussed the sin of Adam and that his sin did us all in however she was not sure that she believed it. Unfortunally she feels that she is ok and God will forgive her and she is good to go to heaven. Based on her answers to questions, I have concerns that she is not. I asked her to read Romans 1, hopefully she will it it will help to show her our problem.

So as the stewardess was coming down to give us drinks this part of our conversation was coming to an end. She asked if she could borrow a buck to help pay for her wine (I am guessing to calm her nerves) and I gave her the buck and gave her a million dollar bill as well. The neat part about this was that I was not the first person to give her a million dollar bill. Her boyfriends boss gave her one as well. Hopefully she will give some thought to what I have told her and what her boyfriends boss told her. I think I will have to get the Billion Dollar bill tract just in case this happens again. Then I can so "oh you got the million, here have a billion then"

Don't know why I did not think about that before the posting. Dumb of me, with all you can do with a computer it would be very easy to do.

Gay Bishop Protest (AMEN Way to Go!)

I heard about this video on Way of the Master and thought I would post it for all to see. The man in the crowd should be lifted up as a hero and a great Truth Warrior. It is a sad shame that other people don't see that. It is a shame that the only person in the congregation that appears to be a follower of Christ is being escorted out and all the lost people are staying in the Church.

I wanted to throw up when I heard what song they were singing "Thine Be the Glory" Yes, God will have the glory when he judges all of us and gives us what we deserve. If we have repented and put our trust in Jesus, it is clear that we will spend eternity with God. If we don't we will spend eternity separated from God. Unless Gene Robinson REPENTS like the young man in the video was telling him to do. He will end up in Hell and that will be for God's glory

I Did It !

What is it that I did? I got off my butt and went to talk to people on the street about the law and gospel.

It was a little nerve racking to say the least. I don't know why, all I am doing is talking to people and asking questions. I guess it is all about getting the conversation started.

I went up and down Penn Ave. in Reading and talked to people. There were not that many people we were hoping for more. But I was able to get into some conversations with 3 people. Everyone else that I spoke to if they said no, would at least get a million dollar bill with the gospel message on it.

I had a conversation with a guy named Frank, when asked what would happen when you die he thought that re-incarnation was the way to go. He also said that he did believe in a Heaven and a Hell. However he really thought that we were living in Hell now and everyone would go to Heaven. I think that he is really not sure what is the right way. I spoke to him about what Christ did for us and he seemed to agree with me. I think that he has a lot to work out. Please pray for Frank that God may use this time that I had with him in a way that may bring him to God. I gave him a million dollar bill before we left. He asked where I was from and told him about our church. He stated that he really liked the way that we approached him and got the conversation going.

I only spent an hour on the street, but that was a lot better than nothing at all.

I am hoping that I can get out a least twice a month and that I can recruit more people from my church to go with me.

Pray for Me!

Pray for me and some guys from my Church. I have organized some guys to go with me on Saturday and walk the streets to try and reach the lost with the gospel of Christ.

Am I nervous, you bet, however more and more I have felt that I need to get off my butt and put my faith into action. Time to get out of my comfort zone. I am hoping to make this a regular thing.

So just pray for me and the two other guys that we have the boldness of Paul and Peter as we go forth with the message of Christ. Also pray for the people that we may come in contact with that they may be open to the message. And if they aren't that we can still have a good conversation and that we can leave them with something to ponder.

Letter From Hell

I am on a video kick so bear with me.

I have seen this video before and I feel that more and more people need to see it and feel uncomfortable. If you have not seen it and you are a Christian, it is going to hit you like a ton of bricks. But we must always keep in our minds that God created Hell, and he is in control of it as well.

I will leave you with a few questions. How many people have you had relationships with that have passed away and may be writing this letter to you? How many people do you know right now that are not Christians and you need to tell?

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT?

Can you schedule time in your life for other so called important things. Sports, TV, hobbies? What could be more important than lost people?

God's Gonna Cut You Down !

I was given a Johnny Cash album a few years ago by a good friend of mine. This was the first I think I had ever heard a Johnny Cash song, and I got hooked on some of his songs and have been accumulating his albums ever since. This is a far stretch in music taste from my head banging years of Motley Crue.

Now a radio program I listen too had a Cash song on it called "God's Gonna Cut You Down", this is a very good song and I think that it has a great message. Take a listen to it in the video posted below.

Some of you may recognize the people in the video. I would argue that most of the people in this video are going to be "cut down" by God on judgement day I would say that somone should be telling the people in the video that God will cut them down.

I am not sure if this video was made posthumously or if Johnny Cash was alive when it was made. I am taking a guess that Johnny had already passed.

While you are listening to the song, think about the people in you life. How many are going to be cut down, because you said nothing to them about the gospel of Christ.

I started to write a long blog post with problems with The Message bible. Instead I have found a web site that does a much better job than I could explaining problems with the message. Please take a look at it and let me know what you think. When I hear someone tell me that they read the Message, or heaven forbid preach from it I cringe and want to thump them on the head with my NASB.

The Highway of Holiness ?

So this post has been one that I have been wanting to post for sometime now. It is so sad that people actually believe this nonsense. Isaiah 35:8 is the passage that they have decided to do some serious Scripture Twisting too. I have not dug to deep into the passage to really understand it that well, however some simple Hermeneutics can be used here. If it did not mean I-35 to the people that it was written to when Isaiah wrote it, it does not mean I-35 today! GET A GRIP! Don't butcher the scriptures to make them accommodate current events. Also note that they interview a woman pastor (I think I have been clear in the past as to what the scripture says about that). who seems to think that this is funny. How about very sad. Also note that this was on the Communist News Network (CNN).

Good People ?

This one is going to be short and sweet. The other day I heard someone say why do bad things happen to good people. These people need to learn some biblical lessons

Romans 3:12 - "All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one."

So bad things don't happen to good people. Bad things happen to bad people, which would include all of us wretched sinners.

There was only one good person in the history of the world, Jesus. If you don't recall what happened to him let me fill you in. All the bad people decided to kill him. So I guess if you want to say Why did a bad thing happen to Jesus a good God, I guess you could. But I would still argue that it was a good reason for his death, becoming the way for us to be able to spend eternity with him after our death.

Way to Go Germany !

I have a lot of items that I have saved to comment on from times of surfing the Internet. The one I picked today is an article that states that Germany wants to ban Scientology.

WAY TO GO GERMANY! I hope that you succeed in banning this cult religion. I hope that you find the truth in Christ. But even if you don't you are willing to take a stand against a cult, not a religion.

According to the Scientology web site Scientology is:

The word Scientology literally means "the study of truth." It comes from the Latin word "scio" meaning "knowing in the fullest sense of the word" and the Greek word "logos" meaning "study of."

The study of the TRUTH? Well I have a question then. Does anyone besides me think that it is ironic that Scientology is the study of the TRUTH, based on a religion (I use the term religion loosely, really it is a cult) made up by a science FICTION writer. Truth and Fiction are opposites According to the web site again it states:

In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by personally applying its principles and observing or experiencing results.

OK to me this is getting sillier and sillier, how can one study the truth when the truth is different from one person to another? No one is studying the same truth. At my church we are all studying the same truth. How can you make any reasonable study out of something that is not defined as a constant. The emerging church is right down the same road. What is true for you must be the truth.

WRONG, there is a TRUTH that is a constant and that truth is Jesus Christ as stated in John 14:6

⁶Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Jesus also makes it clear in two sentences that you will not get to heaven by any other means

I have found another problem with Scientology (surprise, surprise, I could probably go on all day finding problems with Scientology. On another web site right on the front page is this quote, (click the words to see the site)

"Furthermore man is basically GOOD. He is seeking to survive, and his survival depends upon himself and his fellows and his attainment of brotherhood with the universe"

MAJOR Flaw here. Man is not basically good, man is basically a wretched sinner to the core. There is no one that is GOOD. Psalm 14:1-3 makes that quite clear

Man is a wretched sinner that needs to repent and put their trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation. Only one way to get to heaven, not a million different ways. If you are not on the narrow road leading to life, you are on the broad road leading to destruction.

What Divides Catholics and Protestants?

Well it has been quite sometime since I have posted anything and I have decided that it is time to get back into the swing of things.

So the title of this post is the actual title of an article that I saw on one of the RSS feeds that I receive. So as I read the article, I came across one part in particular that I thought I would discuss here.

The one paragraph that I thought I would comment on today is shown below.

To Catholics, faith in Christ is only the beginning of salvation, and the individual must engage in good works for eternal salvation. Purgatory, for example, is where man goes after death if he did not sufficiently pay for his sins.

The problem that I have with this. There is no such thing as purgatory. No where in the Bible is there a place called purgatory. This is a made up place. Purgatory also makes the sacrifice that Christ made on the cross, less necessary. As the quote above states it is where a man goes after death if HE did not SUFFICIENTLY pay for his sins. There is nothing any man can do to pay for his sins. Paul makes it quite clear in his letter to the Ephesians 2:8-9

8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.

The book of John also tells us that belief in the son provides eternal life not anything that I have done. It is God's grace that we are saved.

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

My Catholic friends you need to do some real study to see what is the truth and what has been made up by the Catholic church. Open the word of God and see what it says, All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness 2 Timothy 3:16

Even Children Can Know the Truth

Well, I had an interesting conversation with my son the other day coming back from his Awana class (a class for children to learn the TRUTH about the Bible) about why he is home schooled. He asked why he did not go to school and his friends did. I started by telling him that the schools now teach stuff that is contrary to the word of God and that mom and dad did not what our kids to be exposed to it.

Needless to say that did not satisfy his 8 year old curiosity, so he asked me specifically what were some of the things that the school taught. Well the easiest and least difficult to explain was to tell him that some people believed that the whole world evolved from something else, and that God had nothing to do with creating the universe. I just loved his response. "Well that is just stupid !" I said that I would agree with that however if you talk to your friends about it we need to be Christ like in our response and help them to learn the TRUTH. They may not believe it but we should tell them what it is and let God be in control of the outcome.

Something that proves the point in why I don't want my kids taught evolution is from a National Geographic show that we were watching about dogs. In the show they were talking about foxes being breed to be less and less agressive and more like dogs by breading them with foxes that were not the ideal color in the coat and other non standard fox characteristics. In the end the outcome was much less aggressive foxes and ones that are more like the temperment of a domesticated dog. I believe that it was my son that was watching this program with me and he looked at me at one point and said "are they now dogs" I told him no they are still foxes and they will always be foxes. So I need to defend my family against such a little program like this. Well it is much easier to defend my family when my wife and I are in complete control of what they see and what they are taught.

I am teaching my kids to know the TRUTH and to discern the deception and my ultimate goal to is have them be able to tell others about the TRUTH and defend it.

The Dirty 5 Letter Word!

TRUTH!

That is the word, Truth. It is a word more and more people do not want to hear. Especially if you claim that there is an absolute TRUTH.

Today you can ask someone what happens when you die and they may say, heaven, hell, purgatory, re-incarnation or nothing. However only two of the above are true. Weather or not someone wants to believe that is ill relevant.

Belief has nothing to do with the truth. You may say that you don't believe in trucks, however no matter how hard you believe it, if you step out into the middle of the highway you will quickly learn the TRUTH. So what you believe really does not make something true. So the question really is what is more important? What you believe, or if what you believe is true? Because if your belief is wrong, reality will come and hit you up side the head. Or cost you your soul to damnation.

So your belief in what happens after you die, is critical that you know the truth. Because if you are wrong there are serious consequences for your mistake. Jesus says in John 14:6 "I am the way, the TRUTH, and the light. No one comes to the father but through me." So if you believe in Muhammad, Buddha, 3 Million Hindu Gods, JW's that deny the trinity, Mormons who believe that Jesus is the brother of the devil, or Scientology (made up by a science FICTION writer) where you have to use an e-meter to cleanse yourself of unwanted spiritual conditions (maybe like SIN, however the e-meter is a tad lacking in the removal process only Christ can do that and it won't cost thousands of dollars). They are all wrong, and everyone that is following these false religions will be judge by God and given the punishment that they deserve. That is not God's will however. 2 Peter 3:9 says "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."

That final word in the 2 Peter passage is critical. Repent defined as "to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life" We must repent and put our trust in Jesus Christ for our salvation. It is clear from Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved." That Jesus is the TRUTH, and as I referenced earlier in the passage John 14:6, Jesus himself claims to be the TRUTH.

So, please make sure that what you believe is true and not just something that you believe. By reading the word of God you can be sure that you are reading the truth. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness."

Earth Day, and Global Warming Non-Sense

So how many people have I offended with just the title of this post? I would guess a very large population of the United States.

First of all let me state that I am not a fan of earth day, and global warming I think is just a bunch of non-sense. Don't get me wrong, I think that God has given this planet to us

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. (Ge 1:28)

and we should be taking care of it. However we have gotten to another point that I think is the slippery slope that we are going down now.

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

(Ro 1:25)

I truly believe that that is the state that our world is in. They don't want THE God of the universe to be telling them what to do and who to worship. They would rather find a god that suits them and worship it instead. ie: the creation.

So what is the mother of all earth day issues? Global warming, isn't that the one. Well I just don't by it. All of these people telling us that if we don't reverse global warming that we are going to flood the world and all of these people are going to die and we just might destroy the world ourselves.

Well I have a news flash for you. We are not the ones that are going to be destroying the world. We aren't even going to come close. God is going to destroy the world, and it will be on his terms not ours. There we go worshiping the creation again. Read Revelation 16 to get some idea of how God is going to destroy the world.

Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.”

²The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly and painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped his image.

³The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.

⁴The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. ⁵Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say:

“You are just in these judgments,

you who are and who were, the Holy One,

because you have so judged;

⁶ for they have shed the blood of your saints and prophets,

and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.”

Notice verse 8 of the above passage, that is where the real global warming is going to happen. Notice also that in many of the verses after the judgments the author John states that "they refused to repent and glorify him". So they will be condemned. The time to repent is now, not later. You need to repent and trust in Christ now to avoid the coming judgment of your sins.

So we can all relax about the global warming and all. We don't have to buy carbon credits to off set our carbon footprint, and the United States would never be able to solve a problem like global warming ourselves anyway. Of course it seems like that is exactly what WE are supposed to do. I don't know about you but to me it looks like our government is more concerned about drugs in baseball and football, as well as finding ways to screw up our nations security more than they are about solving the myth of Global Warming any way.

So who has heard the great news? Bet you didn't know that the tomb of Jesus has been found? Everyone that thought it was in Israel was all wrong.

Take a look at the photo on the left. I saw this on a street in Philadelphia, in fact I laughed when I passed it and thought, "You know I need a picture of that one."

What a bunch of nonsense. We should all heed the word of John in his 2nd book.

Ok, So here is some real religious nonsense! This is a headline off of one of the blogs that I have coming to my google reader. Hold on to your seat.

"Lesbian Ordained in Lutheran Church"

Ok, so maybe not so outrageous, which really is the sad part about it. However only need to dig up two verses on this one to say why this is wrong.

1 Timothy 2:11-14 (11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.)

Second verse is Revelation 21:8 ( 8But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.")

So, women should not be pastors and the sexually immoral are headed for Hell. Is this someone that should be preaching in your church, or for that matter any church? I prefer to learn from someone that has sound theology, and not from someone that wants the church to adjust the Word of God to fit with their lifestyle. They are on the wide path that leads to destruction. I pray that you are not on it with them.

Oh, where oh where to begin. I was on my way to the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks when I saw this church sign. I actually turned around to get a picture of it. No I was not in the back of a police cruiser when I went by. I was getting fingerprinted for foster care reasons. My thoughts however on this sign just screemed to be put on the "drivel" sight.

"Try" Jesus, what are they saying, they make it sound like they have a product that they are selling and if you don't like the outcome of the product you can just return it and go back to the way it was before trying the product to begin with.

The dictionary defines try as "to test the quality, value, fitness, accuracy, etc." Do we really need to test the quality, or value of Jesus? If the gospel of Christ is presented in a way that people are shown that they are sinners and that God is just and will punish sinners in Hell, before they are told that they need to repent and trust in Jesus the value is made perfectly clear.

This sign seems to be saying that this Church would like to fill the pews however they are not really concerned if you stay or not. The following is a cut and paste from the Seventh Day Adventist Web site, from the "What Adventists Believe" page "God's vision for you is life as He lives it! God loves you, and wants to give you the highest quality of life imaginable."

God's vision is to live life as he lives it? How is that possible until we are in Heaven with him. God wants you to have the highest quality of life? There is that ugly prosperity gospel again. In 2 Timothy 3:12 "In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted"

Sad, so sad.

Million Dollar Goof !

So you might be asking what is the goof? Well the tract to the left is a gospel tract from Way of the Master.com and I actually have some of them myself that I have given them out to people. They are a great thing to leave with the person at the drive through of your favorite fast food.

However there is no such thing as a million dollar bill. Since 1969 the largest bill in circulation is the one hundred dollar bill. But stupid is as stupid does and a man in Pittsburgh, PA tried to pay for his groceries with it. Now I see a couple of problems here. First, if he read the back of the phony bill he would have read "Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything or used God's name in vain?" Well I would say that he broke all three of these 10 commandments trying to pass the bill off. He was lying that this was a real bill, he was trying to steal the groceries with funny money and I would bet he may have used God's name in vain when he got busted. Second, when was the last time that you saw a store cash register have change for a million dollars? My heavens you would be lucky to get for one hundred dollars.

That's what a man was seeking Saturday when he handed a $1 million bill to a cashier at a Pittsburgh supermarket. But when the Giant Eagle employee refused and a manager confiscated the bogus bill, the man flew into a rage, police said.

The man slammed an electronic funds-transfer machine into the counter and reached for a scanner gun, police said.

Police arrested the man, who was not carrying identification and has refused to give his name to authorities. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

Who Would Jesus Bomb? - Well lets find out!

So this is the first post of my new blog. I have decided to keep Family and the other posts I have separate. So this is the very first post and enjoy the read.

Who Would Jesus Bomb? This is a bumper sticker that I saw the other day and I had a couple of thoughts about it right off the bat. The first being that this is some peace loving non-sense. The second was that the person that puts this on their car has not read their Bible very well. So in this post I am going to show you who Jesus would bomb.

First we have to define some words. There are only 4 words in the whole bumper sticker and I think that only two of them need to be defined for us to move forward here. The words that need to be defined are Jesus and Bomb. So we will start with Jesus. I will use the Bible to define this, why wouldn't I, no other book is going to come close. Not the Webster dictionary. Which defines Jesus as
"the Jewish religious teacher whose life, death, and resurrection as reported by the Evangelists are the basis of the Christian message of salvation"
So I think we should define him by using his OWN words. John 10:30 "I and the Father are one." (This is a red letter blog, words of Jesus in red) So Jesus states rightly that he is GOD. Ok one word down one to go.

Second word BOMB. I will use Websters to define this word. Websters has multiple definitions for this word based on if it is being used as a noun or a verb. But since it is being used as a verb in this context that is how we will define it. Bomb - "to defeat decisively" So there we have the two words defined and we can now say "WHO WOULD GOD BOMB". I think that we would all agree that bombing includes death. So in this bumper sticker, we can conclude that they are asking "WHO WOULD GOD KILL"?

Well anyone that has read the Bible knows that it will not take long to figure this out. So in my research I started at the begining and found quite a few. In fact you ony have to read six chapters into the Bible to see the very first instance of "WHO GOD WOULD KILL"

Genesis 6:7 - So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them."

Holy smokes, all of mankind! Seems a little harsh, and we are only bombing the bad guys in a couple of countries. God chose to eliminate EVERYONE in verse 13 the Lord says that because the earth is full of violence, he is going to destroy men and the earth (environmentalist watch out). Has anyone noticed that the earth is again full of violence? That does not bode well for the future (for some people). More on that later.

Next up Sodom and Gomorrah, Genesis 19:24 - "Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the LORD out of the heavens." Why did he do this you ask, go back one chapter to 18:20 - "because their sin was so grievous" The Lord decided that he himself would take a look. He even agreed to save it if he could find 10 righteous people. Guess what, he couldn't, and in this instance he actually did BOMB! the people. Hence death was sure.

Next up Elijah. In 2 Kings chapter 1 Elijah tells the kings messangers to tell him that he will surley die since he is worshipping and idol. (ooops, broke the second comandment). So the king sends a Captain and 50 men to go get Elijah, what happens next? 2 Kings 1:10 - "Elijah answered the captain, "If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!" Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men." Hey look at that more BOMBS!. But then in verse 12, what do you know it happens again. Slow learners. In verse 13 they try again. However this time, the Captain shows God the respect that he deserves, and his life is spared.

Now I am going to move to the New Testament. God chose to kill his only SON (Jesus), why you ask. Simple, go back to the flood, God promised that he would not destroy the earth and everyone in it again, by flood (he is going to do it again, just not by flood) "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though ^[a] every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. He even still shows us that this promise stands when we see a rainbow. "Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." But man still has a problem and that problem is sin Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. and we are told what the result is 3 chapters later. Romans 6:23 - for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life is Christ Jesus our Lord. So you have to REPENT and TRUST in Christ to save you and then you won't have to be around for the seven Bowl Judgments. These are not super bowls, cereal bowls, or ice cream bowls. These will not be fun to watch. You can read about them in Revelation 16.

So in conclusion, God will judge, punish and kill those that sin and there will be justice. And if he so chooses he will bomb us. He will bomb us again in the bowl judgments. Does God love us. Absolutely, but there is more to him than just love. Many people don't want to believe that, but after you die you will believe it, but then there will be nothing that you can do about it.
